Luna Sea Inn

As returning visitors we were very sad to see Luna Sea in such a sorry state. We last visited in 2019 when Dr Linda and her excellent team ran it. I understand a new owner took over just last month but the rot must have set in a while ago. Lobby area and central courtyard area is messy and dusty. Staff were surprised to see us despite us having a booking. We spotted the staff hastily putting an extra bed in our room while we waited (without explanation). Room had a strange smell, it lacked frills. Blinds broken and tatty. Door seal hanging off. Pool not operative. Food at dinner and breakfast was nice if on the expensive side but can staff please learn that customers need water and shouldn’t have to ask for it. Also staff shouldn’t be shouting outside rooms at 8 am or cleaning leaves while smoking dope. New owner - you need to up your game in terms of decor, ambience and staff performance if you want to continue to charge boutique hotel prices. This is no longer a boutique hotel.

Barely maintained, poor to non existent housekeeping, rooms not as advertised. Broken safes, dodgy wiring, dirty pool. What contradicts is the serving and hospitality staff are wonderful and the restaurant is good. Eat there for sleep there.

The room was extremely clean and tidy. The ocean view is breathtaking especially the sound of the ocean while I slept in the night. The staffs are courteous and friendly. The food was delicious and presentable.

Breathtaking views. Great bar and food. Had a spectacular time. Met the owner and many more who helped make our dinner memorable. Food was perfect. The sunset like a painting. The white wine was a favourite on our trip.

We had our wedding there and everything turned out amazing. The staff is pleasant and accommodating. The food is great and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. We got to kayak around the bay and in the caves. The restaurant has a vibe especially on the weekend.

Based on the website photos, we had high hopes for this little inn! As frequent travelers to Sandals South Coast (just down the road), we were looking for a place to stay 1-2 nights while we visited friends in the area before starting our vacation at Sandals. We booked 2 nights this trip with the intention to book it again in the future if we liked it. Unfortunately, the conditions were so far below what we expected that we left after only one night and would have left the day we arrived but were unable to obtain a reservation elsewhere on such short notice. I will refrain from posting pictures but the room conditions also look MUCH better online than in person - our room (Room 1) was very dingy in appearance (dirty walls, damaged dirty/black door framing, etc...) and the "blinds" on the door appeared to be taped into place. Before using the toilet, I did wipe the seat with a tissue as I had concerns about its cleanliness and again, I will refrain from posting the picture but the tissue came away discolored. The room was dark (there is only one very small wall light and 2 small reading lights attached to the bed frame), the bathroom window was left completely open unscreened (which I suspect is how the lizards that were on the wall beside our bed got into the room), and there were used towels in the wardrobe in our bedroom. We did make a complaint to the front desk and while very kind, the gentlemen we spoke with couldn't seem to understand our concerns. He did come to our room and remove the dirty towels and also tried to demonstrate how to open both doors fully to allow more light into the room but...the door was unfortunately broken and therefore not fully operable on both sides. We did walk around the grounds in hopes of spending some time relaxing on the lounge chairs but they were in such poor condition that we changed our minds (broken chairs, VERY dirty cushioning). The upside is that the employees were lovely - very kind and always friendly. We were charged for the night that we stayed but to their credit, they did refund us for the night that we cancelled because of leaving early. Our adult children and their spouses arrived on the island a couple days after us and also had reservations here - they decided to keep them in case we just had a bad room or "off" experience but unfortunately, they also had issues and won't be returning. It's unfortunate that this was our collective experience - this little inn has SO much potential - the owner has a jewel in this property; it just needs MUCH more attention to detail and the oversight of someone seeing the conditions through a travelers eyes.
